808 TRACT is a Los Angeles-based community and a magazine serving Black youth and adults at the intersection of hip hop culture and fantasy lore.
We exist for people who find as much narrative depth in a rap lyric as in a comic book splash page and who have never had a dedicated space where those passions are taken seriously as art, as identity, and as community.
We organize social gatherings where members workshop fiction and non-fiction writing, original comic scripts, and lyrical writing side by side.
Through honest conversation, joint collaborations, and inclusive events that bring together working artists, illustrators, musicians, and writers from the LA area and abroad, we bring together fans of all ages to build, create, and belong.
